Difference Between an elected position and appointed position
ELECTED:
Must be a town resident
No experience, knowledge, qualifications required
APPOINTED:
Can be a nonresident or resident
The appointed position will be posted/advertised
The candidate will go through hiring process, interview and background check
The Town Board would hire the candidate based on experience, knowledge and qualifications
This person would be a town employee
